Vincent van Monet?

While procrastinating on my Art History assignment last night (yay!) I doodled some quick Claude Monets for giggles. I took one into photoshop today and played around a little with textures. I’ve been super inspired by Three Shadows by Cyril Pedrosa lately, his artwork is absolutely gorgeous.
My friend Eyassu was kind enough to lend it to me. He does wicked posts every single day, check out his blog! http://suuart.blogspot.com/
I think it eventually became a Vincent van Monet.
I totally did not do this style justice. Will try again another time with traditional mediums :)

This is a piece of my Art History Assignment.
Grrrr.

Hope y'all like!

Art for my soul

Hiii! :)

A couple of weeks ago I did some sketches of some lovely Ethiopian ladies and I'd meant to make a finished piece out of them. That never happened.

But last night when I got bored of my work I kinda started doodling. I didn't have internet or my sketches on me, so I really just made this up ...

I'm still not sure how I feel about it, but it's definitely very different from what I usually do. It was fun experimenting with line on a black figure!

More Character Concepts

WARNING: This is a cheap post.

I'm so behind in schoolwork it's not even funny!
Film stuff is more fun :)

I'm sorry I haven't made any finished pieces that I could post! That's why I've been posting life drawing and sketches lately. I want to improve my drawing skills.

I did some more film sketches hoping to get a little more personality than I did yesterday.

These are some of them. I'm really struggling! But I definitely feel like I've learned something, which is all that matters :)

A day with learning is a good day.

Started off more graphic

Then sketchier ...

I hope the next post won't be so cheap.

Character concepts

Our film character was looking like a little girl, so this week our mission is to make him appear more masculine :)

These are some rough sketches I did tonight of the new Malcolm and his mom. I was working on a cintiq so unfortunately the colours are COMPLETELY off on my laptop! Especially the mom ... D:

I don't know how it will look on your screen, my apologies!

Critiques welcome!

Action Analysis Character

I was having so much trouble with this character in the past two days, so I settled with this version.

Colours are by no means final. She will be acting on a yellow-ish background so I thought blue / red would be best.
Critiques / suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Also, she needs a name.

Smudge Time

I went to life drawing today and used pastels for the second time. (The first time was a huge failure)

It was fun! I'm going to post as I go to keep track of my progress :)

Llamas

Another page of llamas from a few days ago. But apparently they're actually alpacas.

Ecorche Studies

It's almost 4 am and I am so excited for this post - SUCH AN AMAZING DAY
I'm SO inspired by the people around me.
Thanks everyone for your inspirational chats, and your help and patience with me.
(You know who you are!)
Y'all are so amazing I can't even get over it. <3
In the past few days, I've been working on my studies of backs in the Anatomy in Motion assignment. I'm really not an anatomy person at all, so as you can imagine I was really struggling. I always find the anatomy of the back the hardest to 'fake'.
I went to illustration life drawing three days in a row (I rarely life draw for fun, probably just because I never understood what I am working towards) and then spent a fair chunk of time today ecorcheing my drawings. As I was almost finished, something inside me just clicked and I just saw everything I wasn't able to see before. I finally understand everything that didn't work in my drawings! I know there is still tons wrong in them - but I can see them now! What the heck :D
Sometimes this program makes me question myself and it's hard to say 'I love art' ... but today is one of those days when I can go to bed and confidently say it.
I love art and I'm passionate about animation.

I didn't end up ecorcheing this one.

I used Progresso pencils and Derwent Coloursoft on Kraft paper (It's super fun. I swear.)
Ecorches are Progresso on vellum.

I will sleep well tonight! Until life drawing at 9 am tomorrow, which I'm super excited for.
I'm also excited to post more llamas tomorrow, but right now I'm too tired.
PLEASE critique, and have yourself a creative day.

Film Props

First pass at potential props for main character's home.

Stay tuned!

The Royal Winter Fair

Hey there!

It's been quite a while since my last post. But here they are! The good, the bad and the ugly.
My winter fair drawings D: It was such a strange drawing day.

That morning I overslept. I woke up 5 minutes before the arrival of my bus.
Thus it became a day without grooming or make up. But animals don't judge.

Llamas + turkeys + perogies + fudge + free food samples = SUBLIME HAPPINESS

I was so llama-high all morning :B They're the wonderfullest!
Rough, based on a 5 sec sketch from the fair

Some really crummy sketches of llamas and cowsies.
Llamas are SOOO much fun to watch. :)

There was a girl sleeping with them cows :)

Then I drew some birdies!
Also super fun.
(Copic markers and Prismacolour brush tip marker)

This one's my favourite:

Hope you liked them!

A drawing for giggles :)
