Wee Sketches

Been busy with portfolio and my job lately, so I'm just uploading some day to day sketches that I've been doing on the side. Secretly loving music class ... it's the greatest place ever to sketch, not sure why. Hope all is going well with everyone who shall read this, and Happy Chinese New Year!

I tried a few times to start a dance animation piece of Haifa, but it's much more difficult than I expected!

Haifa

I am putting the final touches on a character design piece I've been working on this week. I'm super excited to finish it and move onto something new!

Her name is Haifa, she is a curvy Arabian dancer girl. I will be posting the designs of Haifa when my portfolio is more ready, hopefully along with a short animated clip of her dancing. In the meantime, these are the rough sketches I did in the exploration stage:

I coloured these old sketches today ... my friends Perin and Caitie.

Painted Props

FIRST OFF, today (Thursday) was a super fun day, FINALLY saw the Muppets movie with my talented friends Eyassu, Luke and Val and ate tons of fries and soft serve. Thus my awesome mood :)

Check out their blogs!

Since my last bunchof prop designs I posted a few months ago, I've wanted to draw more but there was just no time! Over the past few days I did some not-so-film-related ones, and I started painting a few today.

Updates:

Really lovin' prop design right now! :3

Comments and critiques greatly appreciated!

London

A few pages of my sketches from London, England.

There wasn't nearly as much time to draw as I'd imagined!
There is soooo much to see and so much walking! :) It was great exercise and a great time.

Hope you enjoy what I did manage :)

Malcolm's Mom

These were some earlier mom designs for our film that were inspired by my hero Deanna Marsigliese. I absolutely adore her. I cleaned them up and tried to use some pattern / texture. The patterns were originally inspired by Klimt ... unfortunately after some hue changes, they are no longer Klimt-esque. Hope I can try his style again sometime soon.

Hope you like!

Washes

I'm so sad that there is no time to post this week!

... or do anything other than animating! I've been working on my action analysis animation all week, which sadly had been neglected all semester. I have been so into everything else that I'd just set it aside, I've definitely learned my lesson!

So I'm just posting these 5 min watercolour life drawings from Tuesday night.

Also, I'm so excited that mom and I are leaving for London, England on Monday! :D The only downside is that I will be working on my animation right up until my flight so I won't be posting again until I return.

How I wish to be making Christmas art! :(

My friend Eyassu made this amazing Christmas post today!

He's doing 12 days of Christmas posts so there's more to come!
Check it out!

Heartbreak

A little something I started sketching last night and painted today for life drawing class. It was my first time painting with watercolour and digital on top. It was so much fun to do!

The initial sketch actually was done from a scene of The Help, although as I sketched it evolved into something completely different. It's one of my favourite movies I've watched it 3 times yesterday and today while working :) Watch it, you won't regret it!

Thanks to my best friend Eyassu for showing me how to use photoshop to the fullest!

Kitties n Things

I was having a bad art day last night so I decided to blog surf. I was looking through my friend Abe Hutton's blog (whose art is kick ass!) and he linked this awesome website where you can 'life draw' animals.

Check out Abe's blog: http://abehutton.blogspot.com/

Animal drawing is always such a struggle for me because they move so much but drawing from this site is really helpful. I started with 30 seconds and 1 minutes but the ones I am posting are a range between 2 minutes and 5 minutes.

Critiques and advice would be greatly appreciated!

Blog Header In Progress

SHAME ON ME!
This is what I did instead of working on school work ...

... aaaaand somehow it's 4:35 am again. So much for going home at 11 @_@
I hope I get up for life drawing tomorrow morning.

Also, a promise:
Tomorrow is action analysis layout painting day. No more excuses.

Inspired by Alison Donato. Super gorgeous stuff! http://www.alisondonato.blogspot.com/
