Purple Hair

Soooo ... I've been pretty lousy with making art in the past month ...
Life's been an interesting mess of shenanigans.

Time for an update!

At my internship at Chuck Gammage Animation (sadly it's over!) I got to do some inbetweening for a Frootloops commercial with Jen, it was tons of fun and I learned lots! Tracy and I worked on some animation clean up and colouring on a super top secret studio project :D Please check out the work of these  SUPER talented (and super beautiful!) ladies. It was a blast working with them.

I went on a trip to Washington DC with my fam to visit the Smithsonian Institute! I saw lots of cool art, cool space things, cool historical / cultural things, cool animals and stuff :) If you haven't already made a trip dedicated to visiting DC's wicked museums I would highly recommend it. There is so much to see and learn from. I will post my sketches once I find a scanner.

I've also moved a million times in the month of August, but as of this weekend I will have a new home :)

I'd also been doing lots of designs for Sheridan College. I'm happy to announce that the new official logos for Health Services and Counselling Services are up! Logo-making was definitely a very cool and challenging experience. In addition to the logos, I'm also working with a bunch of other animation and design students to get our posters and pamphlets going.

School starts in 3 days, so I'm just picking up film development again :)
My friends have been generous with their ideas and input!

This was just a random doodle from today that started out as my film character, but is now no longer.

Enjoy the last days of summer everyone!

Costumed Life Drawing Characters

Finally finished costumed life drawing assignment. I ended up running out of time on fixes, so I didn't end up doing what I had meant to do. But here they are!

Animals

The weeks have been going by so quickly this past month! I find myself spending so much time on resumes and non-art related things. It's been a little smoother artistically and I've been receiving some unexpected positive feedback and encouragement from my friends. Thanks guys it means a lot <3

A few quick animal character designs, hope you like them :)

February

It's been a while! I've been so busy with film (it's no longer No Mo Fro! We reworked the whole thing over, now it's POOF) and counselling work. Just some artwork I've done in the past week.

Quick watercolour for my counselling supervisor's birthday

I'm on an imaginary vacation of one.

Haifa

I am putting the final touches on a character design piece I've been working on this week. I'm super excited to finish it and move onto something new!

Her name is Haifa, she is a curvy Arabian dancer girl. I will be posting the designs of Haifa when my portfolio is more ready, hopefully along with a short animated clip of her dancing. In the meantime, these are the rough sketches I did in the exploration stage:

I coloured these old sketches today ... my friends Perin and Caitie.
Had a tiny chameleon moment.

Malcolm's Mom

These were some earlier mom designs for our film that were inspired by my hero Deanna Marsigliese. I absolutely adore her. I cleaned them up and tried to use some pattern / texture. The patterns were originally inspired by Klimt ... unfortunately after some hue changes, they are no longer Klimt-esque. Hope I can try his style again sometime soon.

Hope you like!

School Work

Pan background for my Action Analysis, done for the most part. :) I will still be making tweaks for the next week, any suggestions are welcome!

Rough final mom design for our film No Mo Fro.
The story and other designs are looking really nice! I'm so excited to work on the layouts and animation for it next semester :B Stay tuned.

More Character Concepts

WARNING: This is a cheap post.

I'm so behind in schoolwork it's not even funny!
Film stuff is more fun :)

I'm sorry I haven't made any finished pieces that I could post! That's why I've been posting life drawing and sketches lately. I want to improve my drawing skills.

I did some more film sketches hoping to get a little more personality than I did yesterday.

These are some of them. I'm really struggling! But I definitely feel like I've learned something, which is all that matters :)

A day with learning is a good day.

Started off more graphic

Then sketchier ...

I hope the next post won't be so cheap.

Character concepts

Our film character was looking like a little girl, so this week our mission is to make him appear more masculine :)

These are some rough sketches I did tonight of the new Malcolm and his mom. I was working on a cintiq so unfortunately the colours are COMPLETELY off on my laptop! Especially the mom ... D:

I don't know how it will look on your screen, my apologies!

Action Analysis Character

I was having so much trouble with this character in the past two days, so I settled with this version.

Colours are by no means final. She will be acting on a yellow-ish background so I thought blue / red would be best.
Critiques / suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Also, she needs a name.

The Royal Winter Fair

Hey there!

It's been quite a while since my last post. But here they are! The good, the bad and the ugly.
My winter fair drawings D: It was such a strange drawing day.

That morning I overslept. I woke up 5 minutes before the arrival of my bus.
Thus it became a day without grooming or make up. But animals don't judge.

Llamas + turkeys + perogies + fudge + free food samples = SUBLIME HAPPINESS

I was so llama-high all morning :B They're the wonderfullest!
Rough, based on a 5 sec sketch from the fair

Some really crummy sketches of llamas and cowsies.
Llamas are SOOO much fun to watch. :)

There was a girl sleeping with them cows :)

Then I drew some birdies!
Also super fun.
(Copic markers and Prismacolour brush tip marker)

This one's my favourite:

Hope you liked them!

A drawing for giggles :)
